Cruise Bar and Restaurant sits on the water’s edge opposite the Sydney Opera House at Circular Quay. The building also hosts a passenger terminal for visiting ocean liners too large to pass under the harbour bridge, hence the name.

We commissioned British artist Jeremy Lord to build a 13-metre-long kinetic light wall, which gently moves between seemingly random colour combinations, winking at passing ferries and painting the clean white internal space with a hypnotic light.

We commissioned British artist Jeremy Lord to build a 13-metre-long kinetic light wall, which gently moves between seemingly random colour combinations, winking at passing ferries and painting the clean white internal space with a hypnotic light.

A white terrazzo island bar with custom-made stainless steel beer fonts sits in front of the light wall that’s perspective is further exaggerated through strategically placed mirrored walls. White plastic dry bars at the bar entrance introduce visitors to the linearity of the scheme and the remainder of the space is left clear.

Sets of coloured images are reproduced on matchboxes, business cards, crew uniforms and coasters, to remind customers of their visit.
