Following our successful redesign of Loblaws at the iconic Maple Leaf Gardens in 2011, we were engaged to do the same for Canada’s favourite discount brand, No Frills.
The first iteration of our new retail format opened to the public in 2013 in Stratford Ontario and continues to roll out across the nation.
Our scope of work included Brand Strategy, Identity Evolution, Master Planning, Interior Design, Graphic Design, Wayfinding, Signage, Ticketing, Packaging, Tone of Voice, Uniforms, Visual Merchandising and Design Guidelines.
2013 Winner High Distinction from the Retail Design Institute of America, against the likes of Chanel, Hermès and Aesop Flagship stores. No mean feat for a discount supermarket.
"A richly layered urban retail environment with integrated planning, interior architecture and branding that creates a dynamic city place of broad functional, economic and meaningful value."
No Frills (Loblaws) - Canada
We collaborated with Loblaws to reinvent Canada’s favourite discount supermarket, No Frills. Our brief was to completely refresh and redesign the business, retaining the existing customer base whilst also attracting a wider savvier audience.
Conscious of the demands of today’s savvy customer, we reviewed every single aspect of the brand to better and cohesively represent their core value proposition. Our design solution heroes No Frills' expertise in fresh and communicates their core brand attributes as a simple, honest, local, value for money grocer.
The results have been demonstrated with an increased frequency of customer visit and spend. First launched in 2013, our design continues to roll-out across Canada.
For over a decade, Landini Associates have been in design partnership with Loblaws. Our work together continues today, and extends across all banners, including Loblaws, No Frills, Shoppers Drug Mart, Real Canadian Superstore, From Our Chefs, PCF Bank, Click & Collect, The Mobil Shop, Theodore & Pringle, and others.
