Slow food, swift service, stylish design: Charlie & Co is the ultimate burger experience. The Sydney-born burger bar opened its first Melbourne branch at the iconic Emporium Melbourne, designed by Landini Associates. Embracing its new found home, the urban design boasts luxe industrial finishes including blackened steel, exposed brick, black tiles, industrial windows, textured concrete and recycled timber. And if the lunchtime stampede and lengthy queues are anything to go by, Melbournians have too embraced Charlie like one of their own.
The brand pays homage to the legendary “Hamburger CharIie” of Seymour, Wisconsin, one of the genuine trailblazers of the hamburger. Just as the original maestro, Hamburger Charlie, took his time to create perfection, Charlie & Co. is committed to handcrafting premium burgers from the freshest produce including 100% pure Australian Wagyu, grass-fed Sirloin steak, succulent fish, crisp chicken and a healthy vegetarian option - all cooked to perfection and served on artisan buns baked daily on site. To compliment the burger experience Charlie & Co. offers a selection of Sea Salt, Parmesan and Truffle Fries and their legendary crisp Onion Rings, all served with free-range aioli or house made tomato sauce. Diners can also delight in a full range of classic milkshakes, iced-drinks, premium Australian beers and a range of popular wines.
Just like the food, the design too is based on high quality classics that stand out. Taking it one step further, Landini were given a kiosk and created a stand-alone building that sits as a centrepiece in the Emporium food court. Taking inspiration from Charlie’s mission, Landini have drawn on simple, honest and raw materials to create something special.
Charlie & Co has recently joined the Jones Group under LVMH. And whilst the brands manifesto “to bring the good times to the people” continues unwavered, the classic luxury of its new parent company transpires through every touch-point of the brand, from the freshest, premium quality ingredients right through to the new sleek design, yet all for an affordable price tag. Diners can expect a laid-back and casual atmosphere to savour flavoursome burgers, like no other.
Landini’s design for Charlie & Co is set for a worldwide rollout, including further Australian locations, Singapore, Shanghai, London and New York.
